Who we are looking forThis is a hands-on software development role on the eFX development team located in Boston, MA. Starting more than a decade ago, the State Street eFX platform of applications has seen considerable expansion, with steady and significant increases in trading volumes and PnL contributions for State Street.You will join an enthusiastic global development team who develop, support and maintain a meshed based platform that trades Sunday to Friday on a follow the Sun basis. This system is very large, with thousands of client connections, automated trading strategies and componentry to operate.We are looking for energic developers who have a full stack mentality, understand how to write high performance code, have good problem solving skills, can operate under pressure and communicate effectively across all lines of the business.Additionally, since we develop the system, we also directly support it. This means the development team is closely aligned with the business.Any candidate applying for this position should ideally possess business knowledge and demonstrate an understanding of FX Spot, Forward, Swap, Benchmarks and eNDF trading.Why this role is important to usThe eFX suite of applications encompass a strategic business initiative with a multi-year expansion plan. Any candidate applying must be prepared to play a significant role in that success.What you will be responsible forAs an eFX Developer, you willLeverage your Java programming and design skills to develop high volume, highly available transactional systemsBuild integration solutions across heterogeneous platformsWork closely with business users as well as Development, Quality Assurance, and Infrastructure teamsReceive and analyze requirements and propose suitable solutions that adhere to the team's working methodologyCommunicate with senior management, developers, architects, and end users, who may be based in different locations and time zonesTake ownership of small to medium projects and run them from inception to completionWhat we valueThese skills will help you succeed in this roleCreative thinkers who are motivated by challenging problemsDemonstrated experience building and maintaining large distributed systemsExperience developing in JavaExperience with Linux/Bash scriptingExperience with relational databases (Oracle) and developmentExperience with build tools, for example Git, Maven, Jenkins, Artifactory, etc.Strong analytical skills including the ability to receive and analyze requirementsExcellent communication, organization, interpersonal planning, and analytical skillsKnowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle for Iterative, Agile, and traditional approachesExperience with release managementAn understanding of architectural schematics.Education & Preferred QualificationsBachelors or Masters in CS, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or similar3 years' experience working as a software developerAdditional requirementsExperience with collaboration with geographically distributed teams a plusExperience with Order Management systems a plusExperience with low-latency trading systems a big plusDemonstrated experience with Messaging frameworks including JMS, MQ, Kafka, Aeron a plusExperience with communications used in financial services (e.g. FIX, ITCH/OUCH, etc.) a plusSalary Range: $90,000 - $142,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
