Incumbents in this series perform various tasks to assist trades workers in different trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.). They perform routine trade-related maintenance and repairs, maintain machinery, equipment, and tools, install glass, replace floor coverings, and perform related duties as required. Primary Responsibilities: Assist in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other trade work. Service and replace minor plumbing fixtures such as faucets, washers, flushometers, valves, etc. Maintain and repair electrically-powered equipment and appliances like motors, pumps, lamps, fans, following instructions and manuals; replace light bulbs, fuses, etc. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heating, ventilating, refrigerating, and air conditioning equipment, including replacing belts, filters, bearings, and coils; adjust controls for temperature regulation. Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools through cleaning, lubricating, and oiling to ensure optimal operation. Assist in constructing tables, barricades, window screens, etc., and perform minor carpentry work using hand and power tools. Install glass in windows and doors by fitting and fastening precut glass. Assist in installing and repairing floor coverings such as tiles, linoleum, and rugs. Help erect and dismantle scaffolding and rigging for accessing high places. Perform related duties including supplying tools and materials to tradesmen, holding materials in place, cleaning work areas, operating soldering/brazing equipment, erecting/dismantling partitions, requisitioning supplies, and maintaining records.
